Precision Aerial Surveys has formed a collaboration with TopoSys GmbH of Germany to further it’s LIDAR capabilities and offer LIDAR here in New Zealand. TopoSys are considered to be leading experts in LIDAR worldwide.
LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a multi sensor system operated on-board an aeroplane or helicopter. The survey area is scanned strip by strip, position and altitude measurements are recorded allowing the conversion of LIDAR distances into elevations in the local coordinate system.
The TopoSys LIDAR produces 83,000 distance measurements per second resulting into 4-5 measurements per m2.
